Friday happy hour Memorial Day edition.....Spring seemed very fast to me with Memorial Day here already.  For those in town tonight, there is an interesting event at the Phillies game - DJ Marcus Schultz is performing post game.  I was told a  good DJ (Tale of Us) is peforming for only $5 at Morgan Pier after the game as well.

Mid May seems like commencement time.  With Youtube, you can really enjoy some good speeches.  Best one I saw was Charlie Day from Sunny in Philadelphia.  But also watched John Legend's at Penn and former NBA Owner Lewis Katz at Temple (starts at minute 44).  Found them to generally inspirational.  I think Tom Clancy spoke at my Delaware graduation 20 years ago but i have not remember what his message was.

Also been on a nice concert run in May.  Barry Gibb (review), John Legend (review), Lady Gaga (review), Bruce Springsteen (at Hershey), and another show at the new Ardmore Music Hall.  Looks like less concerts in the near horizon but have some Phillies games lined upbefore the Phillies go on the road again after next weekend for a couple of weeks.

Unfortunately with all the good spring events, it seems like i missed one of the newew and most unique events around:  Kensington Kinetic Sculpture Derby.  One event that has been around a long time: Bike Race Reminder: June 1st.  Historically a great day of outdoor drinking in Manayunk.

Some political thoughts, I am still trying to figure out the proper side of the fast food worker strikes as it seems that these people need to make more money from the fast food employer and we pay extra for the food we eat at their restaurants or the workers still get paid somewhat status quo and the US taxpayer has to help with some for of subsidized housing/food stamps/insurance/etc...  And the convention center lock out of two unions is an incredibily interesting story with a real impact on Philly labor moving forward which could have ripple effects throughout the city's economy.

Philly sports....the philosophy of Chip Kelly drafting players with diplomas has gained national press. And the Linc's expansion seems well underway.  There is a PHILLIES ROAD TRIP TO WASHINGTON on August 2nd.

Lastly, many of you know I am a professional landlord with the idea of one day having passive income so I can enjoy my time in winter skiing.  Here is an article on passive income in real estate that I thought was worthy of sharing since many people think about using real estate as a way to compliment your income.    I am happy to discuss the topic with anyone if they have any questions or thoughts to share. - Mark

2)   UBER - JERSEY SHORE

Summer 2014 is here! Whether you favor Avalon, Ocean City, Wildwood or any other shore point in between, we all know that taxis are impossible to get “down the shore.” That is about to change this year!

  • Avalonians, are you looking to mix it up one night and get a few drinks in Wildwood?
  • How about the Ocean City goers who are sick of the town's no alcohol policy? Maybe you want to check out the nightlife in Sea isle.
  • Sea Isle people, want to get across the bridge to visit friends in Avalon?

But who is going to be your designated driver? No worries, let Uber drive you!

Uber is an app where you can request a ride via an app on your phone and follow the car as it arrives to your location. Payments are made by the credit card on your account, and tip is included in the fare. Download the app and create an account using the promo code "UberShore1" to get a $20 credit. This promo code should work for existing members as long as you don’t have another promo code on your account.

Interested in making some extra money this summer? Drive for Uber down the shore this summer! You work for yourself, set your hours, drive your own car, and get paid weekly. Send an email to Marilyn at minda_marilyn@yahoo.com and she’ll send you a link to get you on your way to becoming an Uber driver.
