I am a long time Howard Stern listener. He is having a birthday party event in NYC on 1/31/14. If you are a Sirrius/XZ subscriber, please fill this form out for me. If you are selected in their lottery, I would certainly attend the event with you or in your place.
Moving on to DRUGS....I first was going to move to Uruguay since they became the first nation to legal marijuana. But then my buddy Alex sent me a link about NYC taking some steps to legalize the herb and I thought a train/bus ticket would be cheaper than the flight....and then I had a buddy from British Columbia tell me to just head there since they have great skiing and an abundance of marijuana. With all these options, I figured I could be happy staying here in Philly. Then I read about a guy who had a herion overdose, the girlfriend calls 911, and she gets charged with a potential 40 year prison sentence for not only drug poessession but for providing the herion to her boyfriend to begin with. Is it better to try to save a life or let the person die because the person is scared of the consequences. Not saying i think herion should be legal but I am saying it seems like a bad law to me - what little I know.
Moving on to sports....Army/Navy is in the bad weather tomorrow. Anyone going? It really is a great event that every American should attend at least once. It was great to be at the Eagles game on Sunday as it will certainly be a memorable game for me. Early on, I was confused why our offense was trying plays east/west when it clearly was not working and Detroit had lots of success against us going north/south. We were fortunate to have the two Detroit fumbles or the halftime score would have much worse. For those wondering why the Eagles/Bears game was moved to primetime, the reason had to do with the TV networks contractual obligations for AFC/NFC games - not because the country would rather see us play than NE/Baltimore. BTW, the Eagles are lucky this year....No Aaron Rodgers when we played Green Bay and now possibly no Adrian Peterson this weeknd in MN.
And entertainment: attended the Pink show last week (same show she did a few months back in Philly) as well as Rod Stewart this week. The Wells Fargo Center has been getting some decent acts lately. Some comedy shows coming up are Andrew Dice Clay (12/14) at the Keswick and Dave Chappelle (12-21) at the Tower.
Question for you. Is recycling a good thing or bad thing? I recycle but a good friend has been telling me we are worse off when we do. if anyone has any knowledge on the topic, please share. Here is a sample article on why it is bad. And an article talking about how much trash the world will create in the coming years.
For people who fly....I just went through a very easy $100 process (valid for five years) that allows me to move faster through US Customs and on domestic TSA check in. Includes an application and a 10 inute interview with border patrol. Seems well worth it. https://goes-app.cbp.dhs.gov/main/goes
And closing with some real estate....the city is changing its graffiti laws. Currently, if you have any on your property, you can call 311 and they city for no fee with do their best to paint over it. A new city council bill was passed so property owners will be paying for the removal on their own dime. So, before the bill goes in to effect, get it done on the city dime. And lastly, one of the big banks in town is now now offering a $3,500 Closing Cost Grant to our First Time Homebuyers - Basically they will give up to 3% of the Sale Price up to a maximum amount of $3,500!!! Additionally, they are also offering a New Conventional 97% Program with No mortgage insurance. I have not run any loans through yet but on the surface, it is very interesting. Please contact me if you would like more information. - Mark
