Title: 27 Items (2-15-13)
Body:

Anyone heading to Mumford and Sons this weekend in Camden?  Was thinking about heading to their show on Sunday.  Do not know their music but listened to some on Youtube and thought I would try to check them out.

Last weekend, I made it up for three days to NY for some time on the mountain.  Spent two days at Windham and one at Hunter.  They received a foot of new snow from the storm which was a similar amount as Vermont, so I did not make the drive further north.  Helped that I had a free place to stay at Windham.  If people can head up during weekdays, please let me know.  I also learned about a place on the way up for discount lift tickets to many places in NY and VT.  Easy to pick up on the way north.  Mt. Snow bus trip Feb 22nd.

For those that like to run and love dogs, here is a great way to help dogs in shelters head out for a run: Monster Milers.

Drove by the site that the new Mormom church is to be be built.  Although they technically broke ground a while back, they did not actually start work until recently.  Definitely a construction site now.  I am excited to see the finished church as it will be a great addition to Philadelphia.

As always, I ask that you talk to me if you are thinking of buying/selling a property in the greater Philly metro area.  I have some investment opportunities that I might push out next week.  - Mark

5)Cavanaugh's Brew and Chew With Yards Brewing, February 20

If you’ve never paid a visit to Yards Brewing Company’s Delaware Avenue brewhouse, you’ve got to make the trip. Just north of the Ben Franklin Bridge, the tasting room is open seven days a week and tours are available on weekends. However, since it’s winter, the easiest way to get a good look at the current lineup from one of our most local beermakers is at the February edition of Brew and Chew at Cavanaugh’s Rittenhouse.

On Wednesday, February 20, you can spend two hours tasting of four different Yards beers, paired with four different appetizer plates. All you need is to RSVP in advance, then pay $25 at the door, and the beer and food is yours from 7–9 PM. If you’re lucky, you’ll even catch Yards co-founder Tom Kehoe, one of the nicest guys in the biz. Sign up here to get in on the fun.

Event Date: 02/20
Event Time: 7-9 PM
Location: Cavanaugh's Rittenhouse
Price: $25 with RSVP

6) Second Annual Bierfest at German Society of Pennsylvania, February 23

This history of the Philadelphia region is full of beer, thanks in large part to the huge influx of German immigrants in the 1700s. German beer is on the rise in Philly again, and you can celebrate in sudsy style at the second annual Bierfest on Saturday, February 23.

Held at the German Society of Pennsylvania headquarters at Sixth and Spring Garden Streets, the festival features german-inspired beers from 18 local craft and legacy breweries, as well as a special German Import Lounge run by The Foodery.

The Philly Roller Girls — our city’s “most ferocious female athletes” — will be pouring your beer and hosting an arm wrestling challenge. Brauhaus Schmitz will provide New German snacks and also offer hot platters for sale. Live bluegrass music will play (is bluegrass German? Who cares), and Barry’s Home Brew will hold demonstrations on brewing.

The main event runs 1–5 PM, and tickets are $45 per person. If you’re smart (or want to get smarter about German beer), you’ll swing for the $60 all-inclusive ticket, which includes access to a VIP seminar at noon.

The panel will bring together Victory’s Bill Covaleski, Appalachian’s Artie Tafoya, author Lew Bryson and importer Lars Dahlhaus. Marnie Old will moderate a discussion titled “Lager Love and the Resurgence of Session Styles.” Tickets to the seminar only are also available for $30 per person.

Event Date: 02/23
Event Time: 1-5 PM
Location: The German Society of Pennsylvania
Price: $45 or $60 for VIP

14) SOLAR  (from Ron Mears)

The PA Sunshine Solar Program is a state grant run by the PA Environmental Protection Department that allows PA homeowners to convert part or all of their electricity usage to Solar, for free.  It is a 7.25 million dollar grant, that will likely expire sometime in the next 4-5 days.  In order to capitalize on this grant, you must get in their system, and arrange for a consultation, which initially takes about 10 minutes, when you report to them your power usage and pricing.  To do this you will simply need one electric bill.  To have someone at SolarCity phone you within the next few days, in order to get on the list for free solar panels, click this link and fill out the information.  Not only are the panels free, and free to install, but it will likely cut your electricity bill by 30 or so percent.  The only reason to avoid solar is because of the initial downpayment which is normally quite pricey.  With this PA grant, the state covers it.  To utilize the grant, however, you must sign up now and arrange a virtual consultation with SolarCity.

Follow this link to fill out your information: http://friends.solarcity.com/a/clk/4GlTVd

Read about the grant here (it is expected to be totally depleted within the next few days unfortunately, which means you must sign up to be contacted by SolarCity immediately):  http://www.portal.state.pa.us/portal/server.pt/community/grants_loans_tax_credits/10395/PA_Sunshine_Solar_Program/821790
