Title: 26 Items (12-11-09) sponsored by AMERICAN MALE SALONS
Body:

Anyone going to be down at Army/Navy game tomorrow?  How about Nova/Temple on Sunday?

Reindeer Romp is Thursday. Always a recommended night in the Art Museum – and a good charity fundraiser too. (#1).

I almost forgot to mention.  Ski season in the east has finally arrived.  Windham and Hunter just opened in the Catskills (NY) and Blue Mountain should be open soon.  Think snow: www.PhillyTrips.com heading to Lake Placid and Vail.

I know I always mention real estate to the list but I rarely share things that I do.  I decided to change that with my most recent project.  I bought a property in the Art Museum (20th and Poplar).  It was a livable shell but I am tearing it down, adding a third floor addition and a full basement.  Here are the photos of what I bought: http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=179231&id=731255790&l=daa3f5abdf  And here are the photos of what the house looks like today:  http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=179236&id=731255790&l=70c29ffad8.  Ripped off the roof, knocked down the back and side wall, and removed most of the floors. I will try to post new pictures each week so you can see the project as it develops.   - Mark

A) Metered parking rates in Old City are now only $1.50 per hour (25% less than Center City meter rates).  Plus, many two hour metered spots turn into three hour metered spots after 4:00 so that you can make your shopping experience a dining experience too (or vice versa).
Enjoy free metered parking on Wednesdays after 5:00 PM, on every First Friday after 5:00 PM, and on Saturdays after 11:00 AM (Thanksgiving thru New Years).
Park at a Expert Parking (231 N 2nd Street) on Saturdays and Sundays and spend $50 at select merchants  and receive parking validation for a reduced rate.  Valid through December 31, 2009.  http://www.kyw1060.com/PPA-Gives-Gift-of-Free-Meter-Parking-in-City-on-Sa/5818772

B) PPA Gives Gift of Free Meter Parking in City on Saturdays
Free metered street parking! A holiday gift from the Philadelphia Parking Authority.
Every Saturday after 11am now through December 26th in Philadelphia, you won't need to pay for metered street parking.
Deputy executive director of the Philadelphia Parking Authority Linda Miller:
"We mean any of the meters around the city, whether it's in center city, a neighborhood in Mount Airy or Manayunk or even on South Street shopping. For districts around the city with meters, we are giving free metered parking"
Miller reminds everyone however that safety violations will still be enforced.
"So that means if you are in (front of) fire hydrants, (in) bus zones, handicapped parking or other violations like corner clearance or double parking those violations will still be enforced." The free holiday meter parking was started 15 years ago to draw more people to Philadelphia's shopping districts.

18) DONATE TO SICK CHILDREN

Please join me in collecting items for the Casey Cares Foundation.  This organization provides on-going, uplifting programs for families with a critically ill child in the PA, MD, VA, DC and MD areas.  These children are on treatment for leukemia, brain tumors, cystic fibrosis, blood disorders, lymphoma and other childhood cancers.     The program plans birthdays, holiday events and other festivities for the child. These events are often celebratory and special milestones in the child’s life but unfortunately some are the last event a family will enjoy with their child.  Hopefully, no one will  ever have a need for this program but there people that do and these programs provide opportunities for these children and their families to relax, laugh, celebrate, and for the children to be recognized.  Special items such as movie passes, certificates to selected restaurants, entertainment venues, pizza places, and pajamas, are needed.  If you are interested in helping or have a business that could offer some assistance in terms of balloons, food or events - please contact me – or you can submit directly to the foundation yourself - but reply to pamela8810@yahoo.com for information.  By submitting  items from the wish list you will help provide wonderful activities for the families that they would not be able to afford otherwise.  Creating memories is important for any child, but for the children in these programs, it is even more so.
