Four more wins is what we need…Broad Street after the pennant victory had a huge police presence.  Wonder what will happen if we can repeat.

Last weekend, went on the wine weekend with www.phillytrips.com.  Four wineries on Saturday and a wine festival on Sunday.  Was not my normal activity to do but it was a nice weekend.  Even jumped down to DC to catch a DJ – Armin Van Buuren. http://www.arminvanbuuren.com/

Got to see Bruce close out his Spectrum show on Tuesday night.  Pearl Jam closes the place out with four shows next week.  If you head down to the arena the day of the show, you will be able to score tickets.  Seeing a show in that place is a different experience that next door at the Wachovia. - Mark

The PA Chapter of the East Coast Greenway Alliance, in collaboration with the Schuylkill River Trail (SRDC) and the Pennsylvania Environmental Council (PEC) is hosting a Bike and Boat Tour on Saturday, October 31, 2009.  The tour will start at the Schuylkill River Trail at the Walnut Street Dock area – everyone will bike all the way down to Fort Mifflin, near the Philadelphia Airport – going thru the existing and proposed trail segments.  Participants will get a guided tour and explanation of the trail segments, as well as of historical and natural attractions along the way – including Bartram’s Garden (the first botanical garden in America), the Blue Bell Inn (where Washington was said to have slept), and the Heinz Wildlife Refuge (a national park in the middle of our city)!

From Fort Mifflin, participants will take a relaxing boat ride back up the Schuylkill, ending up where they started, at the Walnut Street Dock!
In addition to the guided tour, your $100 contribution for the ride will cover such items as membership in the national East Coast Greenway Alliance, a catered boxed lunch, admission to Fort Mifflin, and truck transport of your bike back to the Walnut Street Dock.  Of course, the donation will not only support the national alliance, but will also help match efforts that the SRDC and PEC have been spearheading to build more trail segments in the region.
