Title: 34 Items (10-16-09) sponsored by PW's TASTE OF PHILLY
Body:

Fall is a great time to be in Philly – minus the 40 degree rainy weather.
Last week, besides putting in my work hours and I swear I work as much as most people on this list, I hit some great events.

Attended the Fashion Week shows on Friday and Saturday.   I think it was a great event for the first one.  It seems to be a nice foundation for years to come.  I included some articles for those that have interest:  http://www.aroundphilly.com/philly-fashion-week-its-better-without-kanye-philadelphia-style/a-5587 and http://www.campusphilly.com/articles.nsf/frontpage/8EFB7A594800EF6C8525764D0064C18E?OpenDocument

Sunday had a great day at the Piazza in Northern Liberties.  Great Sunday weather to watch football on the big screen outdoors.  Turns out there was free beer and food too which I did not know about.  It seems it is normally $15.  Even at $15, it is a very fair offering.    http://www.atthepiazza.com/
For Phils and Eagles games when you would be ok being outdoors, it is worth checking out.

Monday was at Irish Pub for the Phillies (skipped the Kiss show).  Tuesday and Wednesday was able to catch Bruce Springsteen at the Spectrum – two more shows scheduled for Monday and Tuesday next week.  And Wednesday after the Bruce show, I was able to catch DJ Tiesto from the Netherlands at the Electric Factory (midnight start time).  And closed out the week at a nice fundraiser hosted by Positano Coast for www.heartsandsmiles.org and watched the end of the game at McFaddens 3rd street.

Wanted to give special notice to the Ronald McDonald House that reached their 35 year anniversary: http://www.philly.com/philly/news/pennsylvania/20091016_Ronald_McDonald_House_celebrates_35th_year.html

And will finish with this: 30-Year Fixed Rate Still Below 5 Percent for Third Consecutive Week
Federal tax credit ends on 11/30/09.  I am hearing rates will be going up in the years to come so now is a good time to buy….. - Mark

The Taste of Philly event was created in 2007 to accompany PW’s annual glossy dining guide. The event was such a huge hit that it has now become one of the best and most anticipated culinary events in Philadelphia. We expect 2009 to be even bigger and better! Last year’s event took place at the Franklin Institute and sold out to over 1,000 guests! Approximately 50 of the city’s restaurants provided samples of their signature drinks and dishes to guests during the event. Entertainment was provided by ArcheDream for HumanKind, a non-profit organization that uses performance to empower and inspire the less fortunate communities around the world. Guests were wowed by this amazing group and PW was able to donate over $12,000 to the charity!
This year, we expect approximately 1200 guests to attend the event. Tickets will be sold in advance for $30 and a portion of the proceeds will be donated to ArcheDream for HumanKind.  http://www.philadelphiaweekly.com/events/PWs-3rd-Annual-Taste-of-Philly-39798937.html
