Missed last week due to being busy with work and then Monday I had a hard drive crash. Been working to build my laptop back all week. Still downloading my data from my online back up system, Carbonite.
Bike race was great as always. Was tough to leave the fun that evening for the Phish show in Camden.
Anyone looking for a rental in Graduate Hospital? I have a very cute two bedroom house for rent if so.

5) NEW PHILADELPHIA WATERFRONT PARK
Pier 11 (next to the Ben Franklin Bridge) is going to become a public park - and you can help shape its future. On Wednesday, June 17, the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation (DRWC) will host a public presentation of four design teams that are finalists for the design of Pier 11 as a new waterfront public space. Mayor Nutter will provide an introduction, and each finalist will present examples of their work and their vision for the project.
And you will be able to ask questions of the finalists. This public conversation will help inform DRWC’s selection process. In becoming a public park, Pier 11 will offer dramatic views of the Ben Franklin Bridge and the full sweep of the river, and the design will be the first step in the transformation of the riverfront as a 21st-century public amenity.

Tax credit can be used for down payment. FHA issues guidelines to lenders Friday, May 29, 2009.
The Federal Housing Administration has issued formal guidelines allowing first-time homebuyers to apply a federal tax credit of up to $8,000 toward the purchase of a home with an FHA-backed mortgage.
The bad news, for those hoping that the initiative would allow homebuyers to buy a home with nothing down, is that the tax credit can't be used to meet the FHA's 3.5 percent minimum down-payment requirement. http://www.inman.com/news/2009/05/29/tax-credit-can-be-used-down-payment

11) JACK RUSSELL TERRIER NEEDS HOME
Last Wednesday driving home from taking my son to preschool, I found a small (17 lbs.) male Jack Russell Terrier. He was full of ticks and fleas and extremely DIRTY.... I took him home, gave him a bath, a soft bed to sleep on and a good meal. It is now Saturday and I have yet to find his owners (if he even has any worth looking for!). I took him to the vet today and he thinks he is on the younger side (3-4years), but his teeth are completely filed down like he was chewing his entire life to get out of a cage :-( I will take pics soon to show all of you just how handsome he is. He is starting to really get attached to me, so he is a very sweet boy. I am not sure if he is good with kids or other animals... I will take the socializing day by day. I will have him vaccinated and Neutered if/when I find the PERFECT home for him. PLease help by forwarding him along to all of your dog lover friends. Kelly Hanna khanna517@earthlink.net

SEPTA will be making major renovations to 17 Regional Rail stations in Delaware County as more than 50 of its 151 stations in the region will be replaced, repaired or repainted in the next five years.
The total cost is about $240 million, of which $37 million will come from federal stimulus money while the remainder will be funded by state and federal aid. The Villanova R5 Station historic reconstruction project will be the most costly — $21.8 million earmarked for station rehabilitation and high platforms. Enhancements to the Wayne R5 Station in Radnor will include historic preservation and a high-level platform to improve accessibility. The Secane Station project in Upper Darby involves completely renewing the facilities. Pre-cast continuous high-level passenger platforms and stairs and ramps compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act to access the high-level platforms will be constructed. On the inbound side, a station building with a canopy will be installed. On the outbound side, a passenger shelter will be built and improvements will be made at the existing grade crossing at Providence Road. The SEPTA board also approved rehabilitating and painting the Morton and Clifton-Aldan R3 stations on the Media-Elwyn line. Other stations that will see improvements are the Primos R3, Folcroft R2, Clifton-Aldan R3, Morton R3, Marcus Hook R2, Eddystone R2, Crum Lynne R2, Ridley Park R2, Prospect Park R2, Norwood R2, Glen Olden R2, Sharon Hill R2, Curtis Park R2 and Darby R2. 21) GIRARD AVE FESTIVAL
Art + Soul Food 6-9pm Sat, June 13; W Girard Ave between 26th & 30th Sts; Brewerytown
Art might feed the soul, but belly-wise those fruit-bowl still lifes always seem to lead to gastric blockage and arrest. Feast on creativity and grub, at Art + Soul Food. Spanning a four-block stretch of Brewerytown's West Girard corridor, this completely free art show-cum-block party delivers on its name, combining works from 16 Philly artists with gratis soul food catered by local institutions, plus comp'd beer and wine to ensure said soul doesn't get parched. Spread throughout four gloriously rehabbed storefronts, the art includes monstrous taxidermy (rabbit w/ duck feet & pigeon wings; herring gull w/ wild turkey claw); photo documentation of the Divine Lorraine Hotel's slide into decrepitude; and a silent video montage of stock news footage from the '50s-'70s documenting satellite launches, improvements in transportation, and the advent of the cell phone age -- i.e., the birth of Mark Paul Gosselaar. Foodwise, Butter's will sling southern eats like fried chicken wings, collards, mac 'n' cheese, and corn bread; Rita's will hand out sweet potato pie-flavored water ice; and Deborah's Kitchen's progressive spread is designed to "broaden the horizons of the layman's concept of soul food" through rice pilaf w/ salmon and a lightly fried, "secretly seasoned" turkey chop, which hopefully doesn't include any herring gull.
Bookending the festival borders, 10 bands split two sidewalk stages, with one lineup hand-picked by Officer Bryant, a part-time musician and full-time cop who walks the West Girard beat, and totally doesn't hold a grudge over you eating a wing of Cezannes. Feed your head -- and your belly. Bone up on the nitty-gritty at www.ArtPlusSoulFood.com http://artplussoulfood.blogspot.com/
