Title: 24 Items (1-30-09) sponsored by PhillyTrips.com UTAH Ski Trip
Body:

Anyone out there have interest in house sitting for me when I travel?  Only responsibility is two cats.  I live at 20th and Fairmount.

I think I am heading up to Blue Mountain on Sunday before the game.  I bought my first pair of telemark skis, so I am looking forward to a new ski activity. It is a cross between alpine and cross country skis. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Telemark_ski  If you have interest in joining me at Blue, let me know.

If anyone wants a free day of skiing this month courtesy of Coors Light: free ski: http://www.philly2night.com/event/76155/rocky-mountain-freeride09/

If anyone is thinking about the Park City trip, the flight times allow for six days on the mountain.
And while finishing up on skiing, I forgot to mention the other day that Alta did not have one safety bar on any of their chairs and still uses the original trail labeling system of black, blue, and green. Old school.

Parking rates went up big time recently.  City needs the money: http://shopping.netsuite.com/c.667537/site/landing5.html?partner=P00004

I have a friend looking to add some bartending shifts.  Can anyone help her?

New sports bar at 32nd and Chestnut just opened. http://www.mikeysphilly.com/

Have a good week. Please think about talking to me if you are thinking of buying or selling a home.  I would like to help... - Mark

5) Sprawl to crawl on Route 422

With Route 422 at the center of one of the fastest-growing corridors in Southeastern Pennsylvania, land planners and traffic experts warn that without a drastic change in development and commuting habits, even rougher rides are ahead. Planners are soliciting suggestions on ways to smooth out one of the region's toughest commutes. On Feb. 17 and 18, the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission will hold open houses in Pottstown and Oaks to solicit input from businesses, municipal officials, community and professional organizations, and anyone else with an opinion of what it would take to improve the Route 422 commuting experience.  What the DVRPC gathers from its outreach next month will help shape a $235,000, federally-funded U.S. 422 Corridor Master Plan, which is expected to be complete this summer. The plan will include land-use and transportation recommendations for the 236-square-mile corridor of predominantly single-use, auto-dependent development, which now has few public-transit options. Encompassing 24 municipalities across three counties, the Route 422 corridor is home to an estimated 296,000 residents and 195,000 jobs. With roughly half the land within the corridor still undeveloped, the population is expected to increase 12 percent by 2030, employment by 14 percent. 8) DONATIONS NEEDED

Did you know that there are more homeless people right now than at any other time in America or that 1.3 million of them are children?  I have signed up to assist in the "Do 1 Thing"  Campaign that is happening on Valentine's Day in several major cities around our country to help homeless youth.

From now until Valentine's Day, I will be collecting items to be donated to Covenant House in Philadelphia.  This is a facility that helps homeless youth under 21.  This place is much more  than a shelter, they have an array of programs that help the kids get on their feet and break the cycle of homelessness.

Join me in doing 1 thing on the day Americans spend more than 14 billion dollars telling each other how much they care.  Do 1 thing to help someone less fortunate than yourself.

Please feel free to call me or drop items off at my house, my office or my parent's home.  If you need to arrange for drop off and do not know these addresses, please call me.  Also, please feel free to forward this to your friends/family.

I implore you to assist in this cause!!!  The Covenant House is doing amazing things and they would really appreciate your help.  "If everyone did 1 thing on 1 day to help 1 cause, great change would come."

Thank You,

17) GOOD NEWS :: Suspect in November Case Now Charged with August Crime As Well  (source: NORTHERN LIBERTIES AREA ASSOC)

You may recall that an area teen was arrested for a Nov 23 assault and attempted rape (of Katrina Mansfield). We have learned from the police that this same teen has now been charged with the August rape that took place on the 800 block of Orkney St. The linking evidence is very solid, and includes DNA.

Suspect to Be Tried as Adult in August Case

You also may recall that the D.A. charged the suspect as an adult for the Nov incident. A hearing is scheduled for February to determine whether or not he actually gets tried as an adult for that.

However, I am informed that at a similar hearing yesterday for the August incident, a judge ruled that he will be tried as an adult in that case.
