Title: 21 Items (1-23-09) sponsored by Young Professionals Winter Warm Up at 32 Degrees
Body:

As you read this, I should be on a mountain in Utah.  I flew out to Thursday morning.  Had some friends coming out this weekend and saw some snow in the forecast, so I jumped on board.  I used frequent flyer miles on Frontier Airlines.  Only cost $10 for the airfare.  If I used my miles on US Airways, it would have cost $75.

For those interested in getting out to the slopes this winter, we have some land only availability for Steamboat, Colorado on Feb 5th.  And we have full packages for both Park City, Utah and Killington. www.PhillyTrips.com

How bout them Eagles?  At least we now know again for sure what a big time receiver can do to the outcome of the game.  Seems like we did not show up for the first half and then could not get the big stop at the end.  We were playing on borrowed time and it caught up to us.

For those that missed Hair O’ the Dog, I think you missed a good time.  They had a 1,000 people, which might be a bit lighter than normal for the event but in this economy…..

I saw today some new listing for condos at 12th and Spring Garden (1180 Buttonwood) that are brand new builds for $230,000 – 2 beds/1 bath.  Brand new construction.  From the description and seeing them built, it looks interesting….

Wish me a snowy weekend…. - Mark

We have also added another level, Sandlot, for those teams who feel Recreational is too competitive for them.   If you plan on complaining to one of our refs this season, do not sign up for this league because it was built to have fun!

7) FREE ART SPACE

A call to artists and arts groups:
Better signs of life than for-rent signs. South Street developers Howard Lander and Steve Giannascoli are donating at least a half-dozen vacant storefronts to arts groups to use as gallery space and "creative incubators" - until the economy improves. The plan, hatched by merchants Julia Zagar (Eyes Gallery) and Bill Curry (Copabanana), have groups paying utilities but no rent for two months, with a month-to-month renewal option, says Curry, seeking volunteers by e-mail at Copa321@mac.com

17) Lessons in Sustainability: Everyday Efforts for Going Green

a forum by Young Involved Philadelphia and the Academy of Natural Sciences

Location: Main Auditorium, Academy of Natural Sciences
Date: Thursday, January 29th
Time: 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM
RSVP: yipciviced@gmail.com or Facebook

Is that twisty-looking light bulb really that much better? Is leasing solar panels the answer? Is "going green" something you even understand, and do you have to sacrifice hot showers to achieve it?

Sustainability is everywhere these days. IBM has targeted the concept in commerce, municipalities are employing "green" measures, and after a summer of sky-rocketing fuel costs, energy efficiency and alternatives are front-and-center in the mainstream media. Even Family Guy advertisements are focusing on being eco-friendly. But what does sustainability mean for you as a young person in Philadelphia? Sure, these macro strategic measures may be sensible and necessary, but they probably don't provide the opportunities you're looking for to get active.

But opportunities for you to make a difference to exist - your contribution is easier than you might think, can have a great effect on your community's environment, and even save some money on energy bills.

To explain how personal sustainability can impact your household, workplace, and community, Young Involved Philadelphia is partnering with The Academy of Natural Sciences to sponsor a forum that will offer sustainable solutions for everyday life. Come ask your questions and get insights, ideas, and resources from our panel of Philadelphia's brightest - and greenest - young minds.

Panel:
Eric Cheung, Clean Air Council
Christine Knapp, Penn Future
Johanna Rosen, MillCreek Farms
Katrina Schwartz, Energy Coordinating Agency
