I Just got my tickets for tomorrow night! Let me know if you will be at the stadium.
Heading home from Tampa with a split. That is ok, especially considering we have not hit well the entire month. We have had some timely hitting to win games but our team batting average must be horrible. We need to take 2 of 3 at home, and then win one more in Tampa. As Mongo of http://www.phillytailgate.com/ said best "The opportunity is once again upon us to host a parade down Broad Street, one that is much deserved..." And what would make us all happier than a parade? We better not have a parade for 2nd place.
For those that missed McToberfest on Saturday, you missed a fun day. They always get a good turn out for the events. The next big tent party there is Winterfest (Running of the Santas) on December 13th - save the date.
Also this past week, I checked out the new Buckhead Saloon (the old Tiki Bobs). If you want to try riding a mechanical bull, this is your place. Will only cost you $3. Here is some video of me on it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=datdQD3ec4U
I also attended my first www.meetup.com event this week. It was an event for snowboarders. Check out their site as I am sure there is a group of people just like you.
I have not been pushing the ski trips yet this winter but I will, promise. Here is some information though for me to share. Killington, VT just received seven inches yesterday: http://www.killington.com/winter/the_mountain/interactive_gallery/daily_photos. We have our upcoming trips to Steamboat, which is listed as a top ski town: http://www.skinet.com/travel/2008-10/top-ten-ski-towns?5 And we also have Park City this winter: http://www.skinet.com/travel/2008-10/top-ten-ski-towns?6 Both listed as great places to enjoy the mountain air. You can check out the ski trips at www.PhillyTrips.com.
Last week, I also attended the Philadelphia Weekly Rooftop Hop. The event was held at the high rises on the corner of Delaware Ave and Spring Garden. Check out the views from the penthouse roof deck. Seems like these are the photos we should be using in our city brochures: http://www.upcomingevents.com/photos/RooftopHop101508/058.jpg http://www.upcomingevents.com/photos/RooftopHop101508/057.jpg
I have been busy....I also attended my first Terror Behind The Walls at Eastern State. I would recommend it as an event to do once every handful of years. They do a nice job with it. And just today it was rated as the number one haunted house in the country: http://cityguide.aol.com/newyork/haunted-houses-halloween-2008?page=14
And I highly recommend the Philadelphia Weekly Taste event next year. They did another great job with the event this year.
Did anyone see that Septa now has some hybrid buses in their fleet? I was happy to see one in town.
And lastly, let's talk REAL ESTATE. Buyers, this is a great time to buy. A buyer I represent just went under contract for a house at $375,000. The same house in the complex sold for as much as $449,000 just a year ago. Many sellers are desperate which is great news for buyers. Interest rates are still very low. All you need is decent credit and a job to secure a mortgage - with as little as 3% out of pocket thanks to the Federal Housing Authority. http://realtytimes.com/rtpages/20081020_washingtonreport.htm
I almost forgot to include this. I am a listener to Howard Stern and heard this live. Then someone sent me the link to it so i figured I would share. Maybe we need some kind of guidelines as to who can vote? http://www.bpmdeejays.com/upload/hs_sal_in_Harlem_100108.mp3

11) SEPTA study reveals 25 percent growth expectations
By the year 2035, SEPTA transportation planners expect patronage to increase by more than 25 percent. The study, led by K. Jonathan Kugel, focuses on train service only and does not include busses and trolleys. Kugel presented his findings to the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission after six months of research and evaluation. In addition to his forecasting, he suggested that SEPTA increase its parking spaces to accommodate an additional 3,700 vehicles. On average, SEPTA has experienced about 5 percent increase in ridership since the early 1990’s, especially after massive infrastructure projects that revitalized area stations. 12) PUPPIES
http://www.treetopsrescue.org/, one of our foster dogs Misty just gave birth to 11 adorable puppies! The picture is so cute I just wanted to share and also, if anyone you know is in the market for a rescue puppy contact my parents through the website! They won't be available for awhile AND it's important to know that to adopt a puppy from my parents (or from any rescue) you MUST have the patience and, more importantly, the time, to deal with one. Regardless, if you or anyone you know is interested in adopting a rescue dog or cat, check out the web page and fill out an application! Here's an additonal link to Misty's (the puppies mom) web page: http://www.treetopsrescue.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=823762 Date: Mon, 20 Oct 2008 13:19:45 +0000
Misty, our pregnant foster dog, gave birth last night to 11 pups. As best we can tell at this point, there are 2 brown with black boys, 3 black with brown boys, and 6 solid black. Of the black ones, 3 are girls and one of the 3 boys has a small white diamond on his chest. Mom and babies are doing well.

18) DOGGIES NEED A HOME
This is an urgent plea for your help. The shelter is packed with dogs whose lives depend on getting out -- into rescue, an adoptive home, or a temporary foster home -- immediately. The dogs are large and small, young and old, healthy and sick, and of a variety of breeds. They are all desperately waiting for a chance at life. We cannot house them all, and more are coming in all the time. By taking one home, either temporarily or permanently, you give them the chance at life they deserve and make room at the shelter for another whose life depends on us having the space. Bull (below left) is just one of the dozens of dogs at the shelter who are waiting for you to save them today. IF YOU CAN FOSTER, RESCUE, OR ADOPT AN ANIMAL: Come to the shelter (111 W. Hunting Park Avenue) immediately. A staff person or volunteer will be thrilled to help you find the right animal(s) for you to take into safety. Assistance will be available until 8 p.m. tonight, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day of the week. To make special arrangements to come at another time of day, please email Natalie at Natalie@phillypaws.org (please email only as a last resort; Natalie is inundated. It is best to just come directly to the shelter.) Directions to the shelter are available here: http://www.phillypaws.org/Directions/default.asp More information about foster care is available here: http://www.phillypaws.org/Foster/default.asp
